Television ‘soundbite’ interviews
Many people find the soundbite a difficult format to master, but it is the most common type of interview which you will face. It’s pre-recorded and provides the reporter with a short clip to insert into a news ‘package’.
Typically a producer or reporter would come to you to conduct this interview. They might record a 10 minute interview, but when they return to the edit suite they will select a short ‘soundbite’ which usually lasts only 15 – 20 seconds. You have no control over the segment which they choose.
We will teach you to make the most of the opportunity presented by a ‘soundbite’ interview:
- How to condense your core messages into ‘soundbite’ length
- The vocabulary you need to produce a lively soundbite
- How to ensure that every answer works for you
- How to deal with unhelpful questions
